MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 13, 2017
City has had luck developing seasonal employees that are known to be
good workers. He explained that it is busy in the spring and fall but the
seasonal workers are not available early and late in these seasons, whereas
the apprentice would work year round and fill these gaps.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION 2017-9-159 —FOLLOW STAFF'S
RECOMMENDATION TO CREATE A PUBLIC WORKS
MAINTENANCE APPRENTICE POSITION, AND APPROVE THE
PROPOSED JOB DESCRIPTION AND WAGE SCALE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer.
Aye (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
OLD FIRE HALL The City Administrator reported that the Old Fire Hall evaluation
COMMITTEE committee met again on August 30 to make some decisions about the
UPDATE work that should be done to the building since the brick is falling off the
exterior. He explained that one quote for masonry was received, but it
might not be exactly the work scope the committee wanted, so staff will
get additional quotes. He suggested that an architect be commissioned to
help with making sure the bids are comparable.
Keis asked if the proposal was to completely remove and replace the
exterior brick. The City Administrator stated it is, along with fixing the
cracks and repainting the sides and rear block walls. He stated the plan is
to do the work next year. He noted that we could redo some venting in the
building and then would be able to remove the chimney.
There was Council consensus for staff to get quotes for architectural
services for the exterior work on the Old Fire Hall.
CLOSED SESSION Keis stated that the Council is calling for a closed session at 9:00p.m. as
TO CONSIDER authorized under State Statute 13D.05 Subd. 3, to discuss terms for a
OFFER TO
purchase agreement for the properties at 53 and 167 South Owasso
PURCHASE 53 &
Boulevard.
167 SOUTH
OWASSO
Keis stated that the regular Council meeting will be adjourned and the
BOULEVARD
Council will immediately go into closed session.
