Field Repair:
Staff received three quotes for repairing the field. Frattalone Companies submitted the low quote with
a time and materials bid not to exceed $2500. Minnesota Sod Company submitted a quote of $2958.18
and Schwaders Lawn Care quoted $12,342.
The pitching area will be re-defined and made into a circular area, the infield grass will be cut back to
restore the proper base paths, the outfield grass edge where it meets the infield dirt will be re-
established, and ag lime will be added to the infield and the entire field will be re-graded. This work
will occur after the concrete and fencing is completed.
Water Fountain:
A new water fountain will be added to the concrete area behind the backstop. The new fountain will
cost between $3000 and $4000.
The final cost of the project should be about $50,000 once the fountain is picked out and a decision is
made on the Fenceguard product. The number in the Capital Improvement Budget was adjusted to
$50,000 from $35,000 to accommodate the new cost. The Little Canada Recreation Association has
indicated it will fund the entire cost of the project and its input in the process has been appreciated.
Work should start on the project within the next one or two months. The field should be ready to be
played on in the spring.
Staff recommends approving the Gilbertson Field upgrade project for $50,000.

9
