MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 25, 2017 <br />certificate have been submitted, and staff recommends approval <br />contingent on receiving the fee. <br />Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIONNO. 2017-10-202 APPROVINGA TEMPORARY <br />LIQUOR LICENSE FOR ST. JOHN'S CHURCH ON NOVEMBER 19, <br />2017 CONTINGENT ON RECEIVING THE LICENSE FEE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />BRYCE The Public Works Director explained that when Bryce Shearen moved <br />SHEAREN ON- from Public Works to his new position with the City, he agreed to <br />CALL STATUS continue being on-call in the Public Works Department until the new hire <br />UPDATE was ready to be on-call alone, or until October 1, 2017. He stated that Mr. <br />Shearen's replacement joined the on-call rotation in August just when <br />another employee left the City. He explained that Staff is recommending <br />extending the time period for Mr. Shearen to be on-call to March 1, 2018 <br />to allow the new apprentice employee to get trained. <br />Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIONNO.2017-10-203 APPROVE ALLOWING BRYCE <br />SHEAREN TO CONTINUE TO BE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS ON- <br />CALL ROTATION UNTIL MARCH 1, 2018 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />AUTHORIZE The Public Works Director explained that there were 14 applicants for the <br />HIRE FOR Public Works Apprentice position, and two of them were existing seasonal <br />PUBLIC WORKS employees. He reported that five candidates were interviewed and the top <br />APPRENTICE candidate was Alex Evenson. He stated that Alex has an undergraduate <br />POSITION degree and has been a seasonal employee in Little Canada for the last four <br />years, and would like to start a career in public works. The Public Works <br />Director reported that both the Parks Supervisor and Public Works <br />Supervisors have spoken highly of Mr. Evenson's work, ethic and abilities, <br />and he has shown a willingness to learn and try everything. <br />
