MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OCTOBER 25, 2017 certificate have been submitted, and staff recommends approval contingent on receiving the fee. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTIONNO. 2017-10-202 APPROVINGA TEMPORARY LIQUOR LICENSE FOR ST. JOHN'S CHURCH ON NOVEMBER 19, 2017 CONTINGENT ON RECEIVING THE LICENSE FEE The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer. Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. BRYCE The Public Works Director explained that when Bryce Shearen moved SHEAREN ON- from Public Works to his new position with the City, he agreed to CALL STATUS continue being on-call in the Public Works Department until the new hire UPDATE was ready to be on-call alone, or until October 1, 2017. He stated that Mr. Shearen's replacement joined the on-call rotation in August just when another employee left the City. He explained that Staff is recommending extending the time period for Mr. Shearen to be on-call to March 1, 2018 to allow the new apprentice employee to get trained. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTIONNO.2017-10-203 APPROVE ALLOWING BRYCE SHEAREN TO CONTINUE TO BE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS ON- CALL ROTATION UNTIL MARCH 1, 2018 The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. AUTHORIZE The Public Works Director explained that there were 14 applicants for the HIRE FOR Public Works Apprentice position, and two of them were existing seasonal PUBLIC WORKS employees. He reported that five candidates were interviewed and the top APPRENTICE candidate was Alex Evenson. He stated that Alex has an undergraduate POSITION degree and has been a seasonal employee in Little Canada for the last four years, and would like to start a career in public works. The Public Works Director reported that both the Parks Supervisor and Public Works Supervisors have spoken highly of Mr. Evenson's work, ethic and abilities, and he has shown a willingness to learn and try everything.
