MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 7, 2002
Allan pointed out that there are schools in the area as well as the Water Works
property that would provide for good walking access to this site. Allan also
noted that there is a natural trail on the property and rather than the City going
through the expense of installing a bog walk, that trail could be upgraded and
used.
Montour pointed out that if the City acquires the property it would be used as a
park area with perhaps an interpretative center, trails, and a parking lot.
Montour stated that he did not envision the City acquiring the property and
leaving it as unused open space.
Fahey agreed, and noted that its pristine character may have to change given
the City would want to do some park development on this site.
AIIan pointed out that park development is different than the addition of a great
deal of impervious surface.
Fahey suggested that the Park Consultant report ou the types of grants that
might be available Co assist the City in the acquisition of this property as well
as the timetables {or grant application submittal.
Council delayed additional discussion on this matter until a development
proposal for the property is submitted.
RECESS At Chis point in the meeting, 8:42 p.m., Council took a short recess.
