MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 8, 2017
FOR VANESSA VANAISTINE TO ATTEND THE 2018 ALLIANCE
FOR COMMUNITY MEDIA CONFERENCE, INCLUDING MEAL
COSTS PER CITY POLICY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
REPLACEMENT The Public Works Director explained that at the September 26, 2016
WINDOWS & Council meeting, the Council discussed replacing the windows and doors
DOORS AT and frames at the Demont ice rink shelter, but decided to hold off and
DEMONT ICE review how much use this rink actually gets. He stated that the ice rink
RINK SHELTER attendants tracked usage last winter and found that the Demont rink was
averaging I L5 skaters per day. He reported that based on the amount of
use, staff feels the repairs are warranted and should be done. He reviewed
the three bids that were received, and explained that either glass or
polycarbonate could be used for the windows.
The Public Works Director noted that the representative from Door
Service Company had indicated that there was not a big cost difference
between the glass and polycarbonate. He explained that there have been
problems with the polycarbonate fogging up and then you cannot see
through the window. He stated that some people have reported that newer
polycarbonate doesnot do that as much, and there is a product that is
supposed to remove the fogging. There was consensus to replace the
windows with the polycarbonate.
He stated that staff received three bids and recommends awarding the bid
to Door Service Company, who had the lowest bid at $14,512, but the cost
may be slightly higher since the polycarbonate will be used.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2017-11-212 APPRO VE A WARDING THE
QUOTE TO REPLACE THE WINDOWS, DOORS AND FRAMES AT
THE DEMONT ICE SHELTER TO DOOR SERVICE COMPANY
AND USING POLYCARBONATE FOR THE WINDOWS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
