STAFF REPORT <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Jessica Jagoe, Associate Planner <br />DATE: December 20, 2017 <br />RE: Planning Commission Appointment <br />The City received letters of interest from Nicole George, Isaac Mitchell, Angela Malone, and Glenn <br />Levine. The individual appointed to the Commission will be fulfilling the remaining portion of Mr. <br />Sandell’s term once he submits his resignation sometime in the first quarter of 2018. This was not an <br />easy decision for the Interview Committee because these were such high quality candidates that <br />applied. All of them had attributes that would bring value to the Planning Commission. The Interview <br />Committee has strongly encouraged the remaining three candidates to continue finding avenues of <br />becoming involved with Little Canada. In 2018, there are opportunities with the Comprehensive Plan <br />and Parks Master Plan discussions or Goal Setting session where we will be seeking Citizen <br />Representatives to participate. <br />Through much deliberation, the Interview Committee consensus was to recommend appointment of <br />Nicole George to fill Mr. Sandell’s term once the City receives his resignation. Until such time, Ms. <br />George will be invited to start attending Planning Commission meetings and workshops so that she <br />becomes involved in the Comprehensive Plan and outdoor storage discussions that will start in <br />January. <br />7
