"1'hcin reported on the committee <br />structures that studied the issue t2n~ the School District which included a <br />Finance Advisory Conunillec, a Facilities Advisory Committee, and a <br />Demographics Advisory Committee. "Tl~te reports generated by these <br />Committees were. presented to the Council. '1'hein reported that taxpayers <br />in the School Dish~icl ~a~ill be sent a mailing prior to the election which <br />explains the ballot question and cost impacts. <br />Theirs reported That the School District has ~n~orked hard to contain costs <br />and since 1995 has rc+duced ihcir cost of operation by over $300 per <br />student uni( "Theirs indicated that the School District lu~ows that money is <br />hard to come by and chat they have (o show that the School District is <br />deserving of this additional funding.;. <br />hahey noted that the City Council will no[ take a position on the <br />referendum question. I~~ahev noted his concern for placing a referendum <br />on the ballot of the Primary G:Icction ~~~hen voter turnout is typically small. <br />Theirs reported that by placing the question on the September ballot rather <br />than November, in the event the rcl'ercndum fails, U~is provides the School <br />District with an additional t~-vo mimths of planning tirne. <br />1=whey noted that the School District ~n~ill be holding a public hearing on <br />the proposed operating levy referendum on September 5'~' at 7 p.m. in the <br />Roseville I-ligh School auditorium- Fahey also noted the good working <br />relationship that Little Canada has had ~n~i[h the Roseville School District <br />and stated that the City values this relationship and the services provided <br />by the School District. <br />q <br />
