MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 28, 2002
sirens will sound in recognition of the attack on the second tower. The
flag will then be returned to full mast and the names of the fallen fire
fighters will be read. A community reception will immediately follow.
ARCHITEC- Mayor Fahey reviewed staff's recommendation relative to access to the
TURAL Poolside property. Staff has noted that an all out ban on truck traffic on
REVIEW - Jackson Street would negatively impact the business at 80 Little Canada
POOLSIDE Road. Therefore, staff is recommending that rather than limits access on
Jackson other than seasonal weight restrictions (5-ton road), that the City
require the posting of a "right turn only" exit onto Jackson from the
Poolside property, and that the City enact and enforce "no parking" on
Jackson Street until the road is reconstructed. Fahey asked if the electrical
service to Poolside has been removed fi~om the manhole. Rob Anderson,
Poolside, replied that it has.
With regard to the issue of the Poolside sign on Little Canada Road,
Anderson pointed out that Poolside occupies half of the building at 80
Little Canada Road. He requested that he be allowed to retain the sign
until such time as Poolside vacates the building. Anderson indicated that
if the sign is improper, he had no problem with removing it. But if the
sign is proper, he would like to retain it.
Scalze asked if the turning radius from the Poolside site onto Jackson
Street had been approved. Fahey noted that revised plans had not yet been
submitted showing the softened radius, and indicated that the radius would
be subject to approval of the City Planner and City Engineer.
There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Fahey, the public hearing was
closed.
Anderson pointed out that residents are concerned about semi's coming
into the property from Jackson Street, finding another semi unloading at
Poolside, and then parking on Jackson Street until they can access the
loading dock. Anderson suggested that the Jackson Street access be
posted as an "exit only for semi-trucks" for the Poolside property, and that
semi's only be allowed to access Poolside from County Road C.
Fahey pointed out that semi's accessing 80 Little Canada Road would
have to utilize Jackson Street. Fahey stated that he was uncomfortable
with allowing the owner of one commercial property in the az~ea a
privilege that the owner of another commercial property would not have.
