MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 28, 2002
Montour asked if the license was for auto or equipment sales. Seibel
reported that the license is for vehicle sales and is the same license
whether it is for automobiles or heavy equipment.
LaValle pointed out that even though the site plan will show five spots for
outdoor display, these spots will not be utilized. Mr. Seibel has indicated
that he has two locations outside Little Canada where the equipment will
be displayed. LaValle stated that under those circumstances, he has no
problem with the proposal. LaValle pointed out that Seibel is operating a
business in Little Canada, and he would like to retain that business.
LaValle noted that these spots would likely be used for employee parking.
Anderson noted that the display spots would have to be posted as being
reserved for vehicular display. Seibel indicated that they would put up a
sign reserving the spaces for customers.
Montour asked how the City arrived at a maximum number of four
vehicular sales licenses.
Fahey replied that that was a decision made by the Council given the fact
that vehicular sales lots have typically been enforcement issues and it was
felt there were higher and better uses for the limited commercial property
in the City.
Fahey stated that he was not comfortable with the proposal and viewed it
as a means to circumvent State Law.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESO7 UTION NO. 2002-X-204 -DENYING THE REQUEST FOR
TEXT AMENDMENT TO CREATE ADDITIONAL.
