<br />Sign - Directional. A sign erected on public or private property which bears the address and/or <br />name of a business, institution, church or other use of activity plus directional arrows or <br />information on location. <br /> <br />Sign - Informational. Any sign giving information to employees, visitors or delivery vehicles, <br />but containing no advertising or identification. Gas price signs may be considered an <br />informational sign above the size limitations imposed within the respective zoning district. <br /> <br />District Signage - <br />The Public District allows for signage to be installed up to 32 square feet. This again is separate from <br />Directional/Information signage. This would be the typical freestanding or wall signage that identifies <br />the name of the institution, church, business, etc. that is visible to the general public. <br /> <br />"R-1" and "R-2" Residential Districts, and “P” Public District: <br />a. Institutional or area identification signs (monument type only), provided that the gross <br />square footage of sign area does not exceed twenty-four (24) square feet in the “R-1” <br />and “R-2 Districts, and thirty-two (32) square feet in the “P” District. If the sign is <br />freestanding, the height shall not exceed eight (8) feet. <br /> <br />Sign - Institutional. A sign which identifies the name and other characteristics of a public or <br />semi-public institution on the site where the sign is located. <br /> <br />Sign - Area Identification. A freestanding sign which identifies the name of a single or two- <br />family residential subdivision consisting of twenty (20) or more lots; a residential planned unit <br />development; multiple residential complex consisting of three (3) or more structures; an office <br />or business structure containing three (3) or more independent operations; a single business <br />consisting of three (3) or more separate structures existing on individual platted lots or as a <br />planned unit development; or any integrated combination of the above. Said sign shall be <br />limited only to the identification of an area or complex and shall not, unless approved by the <br />City Council, contain the name of individual owners or tenants. An area identification sign <br />shall contain no advertising. <br /> <br />With the current signage installed, Northeast Metro has zero square feet of signage as <br />Directional/Informational and 23 square feet of Public District signage already. Staff is recommending <br />the City Council discuss the request from Northeast Metro Intermediate School District 916 to allow a <br />directional sign up to 31 square feet to be installed on the north elevation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
