7/12/2018

Jessica Jagoe
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road East
Little Canada, MN 55117

Jessica:

Guy Davidson from LSE has brought me up to speed on the conflict we are
running into in regards to our building signage. I’m writing to request that the
city views our QUORA EDUCATION CENTER signage as more of a directional sign
in that it points to, or identifies a building which encompasses many individual
learning programs. Simply labeling the building with Quora Education Center
doesn’t help to identify all associated programs within the building but it does
provide a title to the cover of the book if you will. It was also important to
give East View Academy (our ALC program) its own label because it is the only
non-Federal Level 4 program in the building and is totally independent from
the Level 4 programs within the building. We needed to call that program out
specifically due to the sometimes negative perception surrounding Federal
Level 4 settings versus that of a “by choice” ALC program where students are
making the choice to attend in order to graduate high school. I guess the
unfortunate thing is that both entryways ended up on one side of the building
which leads us to this dilemma. It’s my hope that the City of Little Canada will
see the “QUORA EDUCATION CENTER” signage as a directional sign that helps
point students and families to a building filled with individual destinations
within itself, not as the name of a business.

Thank you for your consideration,

Jamin Wood
Senior Manager of Facilities and Operations
