Ms. Jessica Jagoe, Associate Planner
September 4, 2018
Page 4

4. A comparison of trip generation for the proposed AFSA school and the parcel’s
previous office use is presented on page 4 in Tables 1 and 2.

TABLE 1
AFSA TRIP GENERATION
Source: Biko Associates, Inc. and AFSA, August 2018.

TABLE 2
30,000 SF OFFICE TRIP GENERATION
Daily
Trips
AM Peak Hour:
(7:15 to 8:00 AM)
PM Peak Hour:
(4:15 to 5:00)
In Out Total In Out Total
ITE Code 715:
30,000 SF Office
350 50 5 55 8 42 50
Source: Trip Generation, 10th Edition, Institute of Transportation Engineers.

As shown in the two tables, the volume of daily trips is similar. However, the AFSA school site
will generate almost four times as many trips as the previous office use during the AM peak
hour, and, by comparison, 50 fewer trips during the PM peak hour. As discussed above on
page 3, even with nearly four times as much AM peak hour traffic, the volume of trips
entering and leaving the site will not negatively impact northbound and southbound traffic
flow on Country Drive.

On-Site Impacts:
1. As shown on Figure 1 on the following page, traffic will flow in one direction
(clockwise) on the site. With traffic entering the site via the south driveway and
circulating in a clockwise direction around the west side of the building, the north
driveway will be used to exit the site. This will prevent: a) the likelihood of on-site
congestion and b) occurrences where vehicles (school buses and automobile)
approach each other in a head-on fashion. Signage will be posted in conspicuous
locations to notify drivers of the appropriate driveway to use for entering and exiting
the site.
Daily
Trips
AM Peak Hour:
(7:15 to 8:00 AM)
PM Peak Hour:
(4:15 to 5:00)
In Out Total In Out Total
Faculty/Staff 100 40 0 40 0 0 0
School Buses 48 12 12 24 0 0 0
Parents 280 70 70 140 0 0 0
Total 428 122 82 204 0 0 0
