MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />March 6, 2008 <br />tree plantings with the help of students, and typically, a speech from either the Mayor or Bill <br />Sanders. <br />WALTER The Parks Consultant reported that the bids have been received for the Walter Street <br />STREET BIDS- trail connection. There were 20 bids received and the winning bid costs were far <br />TRAIL less than anticipated. The boardwalk and planting portion was $38,553.50 submitted by <br />CONNECTION Wruck Excavating. The asphalt portion's bid was $24,154.00 fi•om Hoffman & McNamara. <br />Steinert made a motion to submit to the City Council these two lowest bidders as the <br />recommended contractors for these consh•uction projects, seconded by Maida. The motion <br />passed 6-0. <br />The City of Maplewood will share the cost of these projects, with approximately $36,000 of the <br />cost going to Little Canada and $26,000 to Maplewood. Once completed, the Walter Street <br />Trail will connect the City of Little Canada to the Maplewood Mall area. <br />LIGHTING Sanders indicated that he is working on the specifications for new lights to be installed at the <br />tennis courts in Spooner Park. New lighting will also be put at the hockey rink at the Old Fire <br />Hall. <br />OTHER Morelan asked commissioners to refer to the handouts given to them that included the Spring <br />and Summer youth activities flier that was taken to schools today, asign-up sheet for the MN <br />Twins bus trip for April 1 against LA Angels, asign-up sheet for LCRA's annual casino bus trip <br />for March 29 and the flier from Ramsey County about the 2008 riee sale program. <br />ADJOURN Upon motion by Neis, seconded by Fahey, the meeting was adjourned. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:36 p.m. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />~~ ~~ <br />Dotty Norgard <br />Recording Secretary <br />Page 5 of 5 <br />
