MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City
Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 23rd day of
July, 2008 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515
Little Canada Road in said City.
JULY 23, 2008
Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the
following members of the City Council were present at roll call:
CITY COUNCIL:
Mayor
Council Member
Council Member
Council Member
Council Member
Mr. Bill Blesener
Ms. Barbara Allan
Mr. John Keis
Mr. Mike McGraw
Mr. Rick Montour
ALSO PRESENT:
City Administrator
Public Works Supt.
Fire Marshal
City Clerk
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
Mr. Bill Dircks
Mr. Jim Lee
Ms. Kathy Glanzer
INFO It was noted that the purpose of tonight's workshop meeting is for staff
UPDATE to provide an update to the City Council on a number of issues.
HOLIDAY The Council reviewed staff's report relative to the cost of holiday
LIGHTS lights/decorations along Little Canada Road. Given the high cost involved
for installation of electrical outlets on the light poles and the lights and/or
decorations themselves, it was the consensus of the Council not to proceed
at this time.
STREET The Public Works Superintendent reported that staff surveyed the City to
LIGHT find potential locations that qualify under the City's Street Light Policy
INSTALLATIONS for a street light. As a result, some locations have been identified as
qualifying for a light, while others have been identified as having a light
while not meeting the policy's criteria. The Superintendent reported that
there are also areas in the City where neighbors have requested street
lights.
It was the consensus of the Council that staff should prioritize The street
light listing as well as put cost estimates together for the installation. It
was noted that once lights are installed there are on-going operation costs.
This information will be submitted to the Council for future consideration.
