MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />February 1, 2001 <br />would promote use by pedestrians. Presently, the bridges only have nan~ow 4-foot walkways <br />on one side. <br />Gray recoznmended that City staff propose 8 foot wide walkways on Goth sides of tl:e <br />bridges ma Edgerton azad LaBore Roads that cross 694 due to the fact that those areas of <br />the City provide vital connections to Vadnais Heights' parks and trails, walkways on both <br />sides would be much safer for pedestrians and bicyclists, and walkways on both sides <br />would encourage more use by pedestrians and bicyclists. <br />Motion secmided by Scbabacker. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />PROJECTS Sanders reported that bids were received for the Gervais Mill Entry Project, but staff has <br />decided to do the project themselves. The ,Public Works Department will begin this project <br />in mid-May. <br />RECREATION Pechman handed out a Fastpitch update from the Director to members in attendance. She <br />REPORT stated that there are currently no recreation registrations taking place. However, registration <br />for t-ball, pop-up, slowpitch softball, and baseball is scheduled for February 22 and March 1. <br />OTHER Danielson stated that she has registered for an evening class that meets on Tuesdays and <br />Thursdays from March through June. She was wondering how many meetings were <br />permissible to miss. Sackett Glaser stated that she thought they were not supposed to miss <br />three consecutive meetings or four total per year. Danielson stated that she will let Sackett <br />Glaser or the Director know which nights she will not be in attendance. <br />Scbabacker stated that be may be going out of town from March 1-19. He will let Sackett <br />Glaser or the Director know if he will not be in attendance at March's meeting. <br />Broten stated that the commission directory does not include his phone number (484-2031) <br />and also has his zip code wrong. Steinert said that his zip code is wrong too.
