MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />Apri15, 2001 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 5`~' day of April, 2001 in <br />the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City. <br />Chair Ginger Sackett Glaser called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. acid the following <br />members of the Cormmission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser, Chair <br />Mr. James Broten <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Mr. Craig Larson <br />Mr. Robert Schabacker <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Ms. Carla Danielson <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morclan, Director of Parks & Recreation <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br />Ms. 1{ris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />MINUTES Schabacker reco~nnze~aded that tlae rninutes frofaz the meeting dated March 1, 2001 Le <br />approved as submitted. <br />Motimz seconded by Larson. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />ARBOR The Director stated that this year's Arbor Day celebration is scheduled for Friday, April 27 <br />DAY at 1 p.m. Festivities will be held at the lower shelter in Spooner Park. Typically, this <br />celebration includes a short program with participation by the Mayor, City Council <br />Members, she Parks & Recreation Commission Chair, the Park Consultant, and the fourth <br />grade classes from St. John's and Little Canada Elementary Schools. A few trees will be <br />planted as well. Sackett Glaser indicated that she will not be able to attend this event and <br />asked that Schabacker attend in her place. <br />TRAIL The Director stated that the City Administrator and he met with Xcel Energy (formerly <br />SYSTEM Northern States Power) regarding acquisition of an easement for location of a trail under the <br />power lines in the Payne Avenue/Edgerton Street area. Xcel asked for a rough sketch of <br />where the trail would be placed. Bill Sanders then prepared a trail plan map for their review. <br />They seem willing to work with the City on this matter. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
