MINUTES OP' THE REGULAR MEETING PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION LITTI,F, CANADA, MINNESOTA May 3, 2001 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 3"~ day of May, 2001 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City. Chair Ginger Sackett Glaser called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the Commission were present: MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser, Chair Mr. James Broten Ms. Carla Horwath (formerly Danielson) Mr. David Gray Mr. Craig Larson Mr. Robert Schabacker MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Kevin Steinert ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelan, Director of Parks & Recreation Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary MINUTES HorwatT: recommended that the minutes from the meeting dated April S, 2001 be approved as submitted. Motima seconded by Larson. Motion carried 6 - 0. GOAL- Sackett Glaser and Schabacker attended the goal-setting session, on behalf of the Parks & SETTING Recreation Commission, that was held on April 16, 2001. The session went well and was very informative. Everyone present voiced their top priorities for the City, then the priorities were ranked from 1 to 10. Commission members were mailed a copy of the prioritization results. The parks related items included the following: • Cooperative agreement with St. John's Church for use of their new gymnasium facility. • Public relations advertisement of the parks. • Completion of Rondeau Park. • Acquisition of easements to complete the City's trail system. Sackett Glaser commented that just because some of the items scored low, does not mean that work will not be started on them. LOUR OF Schabacker and Danielson commented that they will not be at the June meeting. After some PARKS discussion, the Commission decided to schedule the first tour of the parks on Monday, June 4 Page 1 of 3
