MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />May 3, 2001 <br />at 5:00 p.m., with the regular meeting to remain on Thursday, June 7. Members should meet <br />at Little Canada City Center. A picture of the members will betaken the night of the tour for <br />the web site. <br />JULY The Commission decided to change the July 5 meeting to June 28 due to the 4`~' of July <br />MEETING holiday. The Director stated that he would have the June tour of the parks meeting and the <br />July meeting change published. <br />TRAIL The Director stated that the City Administrator has had a lengthy discussion with Mrs. <br />SYSTEM Hoelscher of Payne Avenue regarding completion of the trail system. He made little <br />progress with her. <br />Sanders stated that he has not received notification on the grant application yet. He stated <br />that he will contact those in charge to find out about the schedule for submission. <br />CONCERTS Horwath stated that the Splatter Sisters have been confrmed, but the only night they are <br />available is July 25. The Roseville Area Jazz Band has also stated that they are interested. <br />Horwath indicated that she did receive a call from the Fine Line. They are going to be <br />sending her information on 5-6 bands. Horwath convnented that she will have no problem <br />filing the nights. The Director suggested that Horwath contact the Roseville Parks & <br />Recreation Department for some more ideas on kids' bands. <br />The Director asked Horwath to attend the North Suburban Youth Association meeting <br />regarding the City's request for funds for the concerts. <br />The Commission discussed advertisement of the events. Signage at Little Canada <br />Elementary School will be pursued by the Director. He also stated that a sign could be <br />placed by the fire station on the coiner of Little Canada Road and Centerville Road. <br />Horwath stated that she could contact the Hoggsbreath regarding advertisement on their sign. <br />PROJECTS Sanders reported on the following items: <br />UPDATE <br />The Jackson Street park is now officially called "Rondeau Park." A survey and soil <br />borings will betaken. The grading/seeding package will also be sent out for bid. If there <br />is enough money left, some landscaping and drainage work could also be started. The <br />play area will probably not be started this year. <br />City maintenance staff will be performing the work at the Gervais Mill Park entrance on <br />Edgerton Street. A starting date for the project has not been set yet. <br />RECREATION The Director reported on the following items: <br />REPORT <br />Registration is being taken through Thursday, May 10, 2001 for Tennis Lessons, Golf <br />Lessons, Day Camp, Adventures in the Park, Archery Lessons, Firearm Safety, and <br />Fishing for Fun. <br />The Pioneer Park Area Neighborhood Crime Watch Association has scheduled their <br />annual spring clean-up of Pioneer Parlc for Saturday, May 5, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
