MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 28, 2001
The City Planner again indicated that a garbage truck will be able to maneuver
around the cul-de-sac doing athree-point turn and would then be able to drive
out of Leeward Way.
Theis pointed out that there is no turn-around at the end of Leeward Way
today, and the installation of a temporary cul-de-sac will be an improvement.
Theis noted that the 30-foot cul-de-sac will not accommodate a school bus
turning around. However, school buses do not drive down Leeward Way, but
pick up children on Arcade Street. Theis indicated that a cul-de-sac larger than
30 feet will make the property division unworkable.
The Public Works Director indicated that the 30-foot cul-de-sac will
accommodate garbage trucks and plow trucks through athree-point turn. The
Public Works Director felt that was an acceptable situation.
There was no one else from the general public present wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Montour, the public hearing was
closed.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2001-2-4R -APPROVING THE DIVISION OF 3021
ARCADE STREET INTO THREE SINGLE-FAMIL YLOTS AND
APPROVING A VARIANCE FROM CUL-DE-SAC LENGTHAS
REQUESTED 73YMR TOM THEIS SU73.IECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH
THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY PLANNER, CITY
ENGINEER, AND THE PLANNING COMMISSIONAND SUB.IECT TO
DEDICATION OF NECESSARY RIGHT-OF-WAY EASEMENTS FOR
THE CUL-DE-SAC
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Montour, Anderson, Scalze.
Nays (0). Bob Anderson and Rich Millette, Little Canada Historical Society,
SOCIETY presented the Council with a check for $5,000 as part of their reimbursement
DONATION of the City for the cost of the Historical Society addition. The City
Administrator pointed out that this is the second payment from lawful
gambling proceeds the Historical Society has made to the City as they continue
to work toward reimbursing the City for the cost of the addition.
The Council thanked the Historical Society for their efforts.
