MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 10, 2001
various activities involved in WaterFest 2002, which include fishing lessons,
advice on lawn care, student exhibits, and recognition of citizens to name a
few. Watson reported that the Watershed had budgeted $10,000 for WaterFest,
and requested the City contribute $500 toward additional funding for
WaterFest. She noted that a similar donation is being requested from all
counties and cities included in the Watershed. This year's event will be May
18`x' and will likely be held at Lake Phalen.
The Council expressed concern that all cities are being asked to participate on
an equal dollar basis, pointing out that Little Canada is only a small segment of
the Watershed. The Council felt participation should be proportional. Another
suggestion was that since the Watershed is a taxing authority, it use its taxing
power to completely fund this event.
Scalze suggested that Watson revised her funding request based on
proportionate shares, and that the request could be considered at the City's next
budget workshop. The Council thanked Watson for her informative
presentation.
RECESS At this point in the meeting, 9:00 p.m., Council took a short recess.
