MINUTES
CITY COi7NCIL
DECEM,I3ER 19, 2001
The Council discussed the permit fee for temporary suns as well as the
amount of deposit. LaValle suggested that in addition to the sign deposit, the
ordinance include a provision allowing either the Sherifl"s Department or
Public Worl<s Department to impound temporary signs if they are not removed
at permit expiration. Anderson pointed out that typically the owner of the sign
is not the permit holder. Therefore, notifying sign owners that their signs are
going to be impounded may be difficalt given that most signs are rented.
The City Administrator reported that currently if signs are left displayed after a
permit expires, property owners are notified to remove the signs. If this is not
done, citations are issued. The amount of the fine is determined when the
citation goes to court. It was the consensus of the Council to not include the
provision for impounding signs at this time. Staffwas also instructed to
modify the sign permit to require disclosure of the sign owner as well as the
property owner renting the sign.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RN'SOLUTIONNO. 200/-12-280-ESTABLISH/NGA TEMPORARY
SIGN PERMIT FEE OF X2.00 PER DA Y W/TL] A MINIMUM PERMIT
FEE OF $25.0(1 AND A MACAIMUM OF $50.00 AS WELL.
