MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 5, 2000
The Director stated that he did not have a solution for fixing the problem,
and agreed that the recreation programs are depending on participation by
non-residents. Ifnon-residents are cut as a matter of policy, these players
would leave for other cities' programs.
Morelan suggested that when the situation warrants it, the limitation on
number of players on a team should be violated, especially at the "C"
level. Fahey suggested that this may not be a problem at the "C" level, but
felt it would at the higher levels. Fahey pointed out that the more players
that are carried on a roster, the more difficult it is for the team to be
competitive.
It was the consensus of the Council that the Director make revisions to the
policy as have been discussed this evening, and present them to the
Council at its January 26°i meeting.
BUILDING The City Administrator reported that the City's Building Inspector, Greg
INSPECTIONS Schmit, has presented a 60-day notice that he is discontinuing service to
the City. The Administrator reported that due to Greg's workload, he is
cutting back on the number of cities he provides service to. The
Administrator reported that Steve Westerhaus has been Schmit's assistant
building inspector for the past 1-''/z years, and Schmit has recommended
Westerhaus as his replacement. Schmit would continue to provide
Westerhaus support for special projects. The Administrator indicated that
he would sit down with Schmit and Westerhaus to explore this
arrangement and would report back to the Council.
ADJOURN Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-I-12 -ADJOURNING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Morelan, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey.
Nays (0).
