MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 23, 2000
and ride lot on Rice Street. He pointed out that Rice Street is more than a
quarter mile from the heavily populated residential areas of Grand Pre'
and Canabury, and noted that people will not walk this distance to catch a
bus.
Issacs reported that they have applied for a grant to put a deck on the park
and ride lot at Rosedale. This will expand the capability of that lotto 500
cars. Issacs felt that the Rosedale park and ride lot was a draw for the
Little Canada area.
The City Administrator asked if bus service would be maintained to
Montreal Courts. Rosvold replied that it would. The Administrator
suggested that smaller buses could be diverted to the Canabury area.
Rosvold reported that providing too many options would result in a
sacrifice of service on Rice Street.
The Administrator suggested that a bus loop through the Demont/County
Road B-2 area from Rice Street to service this area. In exchange for use of the parking
lot, Metro Transit typically plows the lot and sealcoats. Issacs again
indicated that Metro Transit was considering that the Rosedale park and
ride lot would serve Little Canada.
Fahey suggested that Metro Transit work with the owners of The Market
Place Shopping Center for a park and ride lot.
