Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator presented the new alignment for the Little Canada
Road improvement as proposed by Michael Schroeder, Hoisington
Koegler, and the City Engineer. The Administrator pointed out that the
new alignment works within the existing right-of--way. It includes 4~4 feet
of pavement, 8 feet area between the street and the 6 foot sidewalks, as
well as a 1 to 2 foot buffer to the property line. The Administrator
reported that Michael Schroeder is continuing to work on the landscape
concepts for the improvement. He also pointed out that the proposal is
that the 8 foot area between the street surface and the sidewalk be surfaced
with paver blocks. The Administrator asked for Council direction on the
concept.
Scalze indicated that she liked the proposed use of paver blocks and felt
that it would give the area the home town feel that the City is looking for.
for the Council's review and approval.
Morelan asked about snow storage. The City Administrator replied that
snow storage would occur on the paver block area. It was felt that the
paver blocks were preferable given that it would be difficult to maintain
grass because of the salt and sand that would be plowed up from the
streets. The Administrator indicated that if the consensus was in support
of this design, then plans and specs would be developed and brought back
Morelan asked if the streetscape design would be a part of the final plans.
The Administrator indicated that Michael Schroeder will need more time
for completion of the streetscape design than the City Engineer will need
