MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 12, 2000
Fahey pointed out the potential for relocating the Public Works Garage,
and questioned making this expenditure until the garage issue is resolved
LaValle felt the $5,500 expenditure was a lot of money for screening
plows, and suggested that this equipment could be stacked and stored in
the storage area on the north of the building.
The City Administrator reported that the southern storage area already
exists and the proposal for the retaining wall and plantings is to screen the
blocks used to create the storage area. The Administrator felt that the
storage area needed to be screened in an aesthetically pleasing manner
whether the property remains as a City Garage or is sold to another user.
LaValle suggested that other options be explored. Fahey suggested the
matter be tabled until the issue of the City Garage is resolved.
Morelan pointed out that even if the decision is made that a new Public
Works Garage is necessary, it would be several years before that facility is
constructed. In the meantime the outdoor storage area will be used by the
City and should be properly screened.
LaValle again indicated that he felt there were alternatives that could be
explored.
Fahey agreed that if the consensus is that the Public Works Garage will
remain where it is for the next few years, the screening should be done.
Fahey asked about a funding source for this expenditure.
The City Administrator recommended that the expenditure be funded from
the Water & Sewer Capital Replacement Fund.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-4-89 -APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE
OF UP TO $5,500 FOR RETAINING WALI. AND LANDSCAPING TO
SCREEN THE OUTDOOR STORAGE AREA LOCATED ON THE
SOUTH SIDE OF THE PUI3LIC WORKS C,ARAGE AS PROPOSED
13Y THE PU73L IC WORKS DIRECTOR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (4) Morelan, Scalze, Fahey, Pedersen.
Nays (I) LaValle. Resolution declared adopted.
