MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 12, 2000
CONSENT
AGENDA
RETAINING
WALL AT
PUBLIC
WORKS
GARAGE
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIONNO. 2000-4-88 -APPROVING THE CONSENT
AGENDA WHICH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING:
*APPROVING ORDINANCE NO. 508 AMENDING .SECTION
205.07 0 AND ADDING, SECTION 205.205 TO THE LITTLE CANADA
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE SANITARY SEWER
SYSTEM;
*APPROVINC, THE VOUCHERS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Morelan, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
LaValle questioned the proposal for a retaining wall to screen the block
outdoor storage enclosure at the Public Works Garage. LaValle asked
if there were other options to consider for this storage.
The City Administrator pointed out that in order to comply with Code, the
City had to reduce the amount of outdoor storage in the front yard of the
City Garage property. As a result, an additional storage area was created
on the south side of the Public Works building.
The Public Works Director indicated that equipment such as plows, signs,
piping, valve covers is stored in this area. It is not feasible to store this
equipment inside the Public Works Garage. It is also not feasible to locate
it in the storage area on the north side of the building since this would
interfere with access to sand and salt piles, and other stored materials on
this side of the building.
LaValle asked about storage in the water tower. The Public Works
Director reported that there is other equipment and material being stored
in the water tower.
Fahey asked about screening the area with slatted fencing rather than a key
stone block wall. The Public Works Director reported that he was trying
to create a screening that would be durable and aesthetically pleasing. The
Director described the block enclosure and the fact that direct has been
bermed around it in order to limit the screening that will be necessary. He
also pointed out that the estimated price of $5,500 includes landscaping as
well as the keystone wall.
