MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 23, 2000
The Public Works Director reported that to add flag pole brackets to street
lights would cost $85 per bracket. Council discussed this feature and
agreed that a flag pole bracket should be added to every other light from
Rice Street to County Road C.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-5-140 - ADDING A FLAG POLE ]3RACKET
TO EVERY OTHER STREET LIGHT AS PART OF THE
STREETSCAPE AMENITIES ALONG LITTLE CANADA ROAD
FROM RICE STREET TO COUNTYROAD C
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (3) Fahey, Scalze, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The Director raised the issue of electrical outlets on the street lights.
Estimated cost of installing an outlet on every other street light was
$8,700. He pointed out
that utilities will be placed underground for this project. However, there
will be an additional cost to run the services for each of these structures
underground. Not running the services underground will result in the need
for a telephone pole to remain at each of these locations. The Director
estimated the additional cost at $17,000. An alternative would be to wait
until each of these properties redevelops and services are either removed
or required to be buried at that time.
The Council discussed this issue and asked that the Public Works Director
get a firmer estimate of the cost as well as provide information on the total
cost of electrical work estimated for the project. The consensus was to
then discuss the issue at the June 13`x' Council meeting when the full
Council would be present.
CODE The City Administrator introduced Luke Vigoren, the City's Code
ENFORCEMENT Enforcement Intern. The Administrator reported that Luke recently
14
