MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 23, 2000 <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI. UTION NO. 2000-5-138 -APPROVING THE CHANGE TO <br />THE LITTLE CANADA/VADNAIS HEIGHTS JOINT POWERS <br />AGREEMENT RELATING TO TWIN LAKE PINES COMMITTING <br />LITTLE CANADA TO 25% OF THE COST OF IMPROVEMENT OF <br />THE TWINLAKE BLVD./VADNAIS ]3LVD. INTERSECTION <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. <br />Ayes (3) Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />LITTLE The Council reviewed the issue of the use of pavers versus colored <br />CANADA concrete for the streetscape area along Little Canada Road from Rice <br />ROAD Street to County Road C which is a part of the improvement project <br />FINAL for this road section. The City Administrator indicated that there would <br />DESIGN be an additional cost of approximately $20,000 to $35,000 for the use <br />ISSUES of pavers. It was the consensus of the Council that pavers were preferable <br /> from both anaesthetic standpoint as well as a maintenance standpoint <br /> given the difficulty of replacing and matching concrete should work <br /> within the right-of--way be required. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RE.SOLUTIONNO. 2000-S-I39 -APPROVING THE USE OF <br />PAVERS RATHER THAN COLORED CONCRETE AS PART OF <br />THE LITTLE CANADA ROAD STREETSCAPE AMENITIES AS <br />RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (3) Fahey, Scalze, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />The Public Works Director reported that banner arms could be added to <br />street lights as part of the Little Canada Road streetscape project at a cost <br />of $110 per light. The Director.reportedthat he estimates there will be 50 <br />street lights on Little Canada Road from Rice Street to County Road C. If <br />banner arms are installed on half the lights, the cost would be $11,000 (4 <br />banner arms per light). The Director indicated that a decision does not <br />have to be made on the feature right away, given that the banner arms can <br />be installed at any time. The Council felt the decision should be delayed <br />until the street lights are installed and they have a better idea of where <br />banners would work the best. <br />13 <br />
