MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 13, 2000
regarding the issues of separation of church and state. Based on this
discussion, the Council decided not to pursue such a cooperative
agreement. It was noted that once the facility is completed, it might be
possible to enter into a lease arrangement for use of the gymnasium. The
Council indicated that it may re-visit the issue upon completion of the
facility or if the Church should approach the City on the issue.
Council reviewed the Action Plan presented for completion of the Little
Canada Road Improvement. It was the consensus of the Council to
proceed with that Action Plan contingent on the issue of street amenities
that will be discussed at the regular Council meeting later this evening.
The Action Plan for the goal "Discuss/Decide Need for Senior
Housing/Transitional Housing/Assisted Living" was reviewed. The City
Administrator pointed out that Presbyterian Homes has submitted a 202
application for a new senior housing project to be located in Little Canada.
The concept would include 40+ units of assisted living as well as a
campus-type setting including market rate senior housing on the second
floor of a commercial/retail building. The Administrator suggested that it
would be September before Presbyterian Homes know whether their
application is approved. Council accepted the proposed Action Plan as
presented.
Council reviewed the Action Plans for the goals "Evaluate/Develop Water
Meter Replacement Program" and "Evaluate Acceptance of Credit Card
Payments for City Services" and found both acceptable.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned at
7:15 p.m.
~ ~ II~,,
..ter.-C'.~feJ2~. _' G'L _VL S'%"
Michael I.
