MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 12, 2000
The City Administrator reported that it has been past experience that wood
cut in fire wood length has typically disappeared from the curb. However,
he would forward the Mayor's comments on to Precision Tree.
DEER Fahey reported that at a recent neighborhood meeting the issue of deer
POPULATION control was raised by some residents due to the damage that the deer are
causing. Fahey suggested that the City consider the issuance of bow
hunting permits so that the deer herd could be reduced.
Council felt that the DNR should be contacted to do a survey of the deer in
the LaBore Road area. The Administrator suggested that the DNR
typically conducts these surveys in the spring and fall when there are no
leaves on the trees.
It was suggested that the City survey the residents of this area about their
position on this issue before any action is taken. It was also noted that the
survey should indicate that failure to respond to the survey would be
considered a vote in favor of deer control measures.
STORM The Emergency Services Director reported that the County has been
DAMAGE included in a residential disaster declaration. As a result, there will be
COSTS Federal and State funding available to offset the City's costs in picking up
storm debris.
Morelan asked if the City had a lift station out during the storm. The Director reported that the City of Roseville assisted in the
pumping effort, and he would be sending a thank you letter to them.
