MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 13, 2000
Watershed that is ultimately the licensing authority for altering of
wetlands.
Sculley reported that he has a lot of buildable land, and at some point this
property will develop. However, he was concerned about a government
agency restricting his use of the property.
Fahey noted that the City has indicated to the property owners in the area
to submit any information they might have on how the area has changed
over the years as a result of development in Maplewood. Once all the
information is obtained, it will be reviewed, and a meeting will be held
with the Watershed to review this matter.
Scalze suggested that when the Watershed is contacted, they should be
asked about the level of control they have over this property. Scalze stated
that she would like to know what the term "wetland" means and why some
wetland areas can be filled and others cannot.
Sculley reported that he has been asked if he is interested in donating
property in return for future tax credits. Sculley indicated that he is not
interested in this concept.
Fahey indicated that when a meeting is held on this issue, Cliff Aichinger
of the Watershed should be present so that he can answer both the
Council's and property owners' questions.
RECESS At this point in the regular Council meeting, 8:15 p.m., Council recessed
back to the Budget workshop meeting. The regular Council meeting was
reconvened at 9:10 p.m.
2001 Based on the discussion which occurred at the 2001 Budget workshop
BUDGET meeting, it was the consensus of the Council to support a preliminary levy
which reflects a 5% net levy increase. Scalze and LaValle felt that that
percentage should be lower.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RE.407.UTION NO. 2000-9-217 -APPROVING THE PRELIMINARY
2001 TAXI,EVYINTHEAMOUNTOF$I,452,757.00
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (3) Morelan, Pedersen, Fahey.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
