MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />May 4, 2000 <br />CONCERTS Danielson stated that the group "Trailer Trash" that she was talking to about performing this <br />July has broken up so she has contracted with the country music group "The Naked <br />Cowboys" instead. The following bands will be performing at 730 p.m. on the dates listed: <br />• The Naked Cowboys July 5 <br />• The Splatter Sisters July 12 <br />• Roseville Area Schools Jazz Festival July 19 <br />• The District July 26 <br />Costs for the four bands will total $1,850 this year. <br />A notice should be placed on cable television. Commission members will help with flyer <br />distribution. The Commission thanked Danielson for her efforts in organizing this year's <br />concerts. <br />ROUND LK. Sanders showed a plan of the Round Lake area including the existing homes, proposed <br />PARK ponding, well house, and the existing shopping malls. The Director stated that the homes <br />will stay until the homeowners decide to sell. <br />Sanders envisioned a sign with the area's history overlooking the lake and a meandering trail. <br />Sackett Glaser would like people to be able to sit, relax, and eat lunch. She felt that benches <br />with a fountain would be nice for this area. The Director commented that no commercial <br />development is proposed for the area yet. <br />Sanders suggested natural plantings for the area. He stated that he would develop a concept <br />plan, but little will be finalized at this time. He mentioned that the Commission could talk <br />about this site again at their July meeting. The Director suggested trail access be included <br />from the Lakeside Apartments to the park. <br />The Director suggested restoring the pump house and installing the ponding area now since <br />money has already been incorporated into the budget for these items. The rest of the <br />improvement could wait until development occurs. <br />PARKING Sanders presented a proposed parking ordinance amendment for Little Canada's parks. His <br />ORDINANCE proposal identifies parks as neighborhood, community, or athletic. <br />Schabacher asked how the Round Lake park would be classified. Sanders felt that another <br />category called "open space parks" should be added. He commented that his proposal is <br />based on the National Recreation and Park Association's recommendations. Sanders will <br />revise his proposal and bring it back to the Commission next month. <br />PROJECTS Sanders stated that bids are being obtained for the Gervais Mill and Spooner Park entrances. <br />UPDATE <br />The Director stated that the lights at Pioneer Park are already being used by the adult softball <br />teams. He has received two complaints from residents of the Purina townhomes asking for <br />the lights to be readjusted.
