MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />May 4, 2000 <br />Sackett Glaser made the motion to approve the revised parking ordinance and <br />recommend city council make the amended change to the ordinance. <br />Motion seconded by Schabacker. <br />Motion carried 7-0. <br />CONCF,RTS Danielson went to the meeting at the North Suburban Youth Foundation. The Parks and <br />Recreation Commission was granted $400 from the foundation. The NSYF is also looking at <br />having their financial contributions used for some type of permanent fixture instead of <br />different uses each year. An example of a permanent fixture they may possibly be looking at <br />would be a plaque in the new Jackson Street Park. The foundation will be contacted to get a <br />more detailed idea of what type of fixture they are thinking of. <br />The flyers are almost done. We still need to get a picture from the Naked Cowboys and put <br />the final touches together for the map. Once that is all done 25 flyers of each band and 25 of <br />the overall concerts will be given to each member of the commission to distribute. They <br />should be ready for distribution within 3-5 days. <br />PROJECTS The Director stated that the lighting contract for Pioneer Park has been completed. They <br />JPDATE are still in the progress of resolving the light redirecting needed for some of the lamps. The <br />Parks and Recreation department has received concerns from 2 residents of the Pitrina <br />townhomes. The lighting company is confident the light will be able to be redirected by <br />using shields on the fixtures that seem to be a concern. <br />The Director has met with both residents to explain the solution to their concerns. <br />DIRECTOR'S The Director reported on the following items: <br />REPORT <br />• A handout was passed out discussing the goals project. City Council has addressed 9 <br />areas of focus from the 2000 Goal Setting Session. Of these, two relate to this <br />commission directly. Attached to the goal setting session is the action plan for the two <br />areas related to the commission. Each action plan has steps needed to be taken to obtain <br />the goal and a timeline for completion. No dollar amounts have been discussed yet. <br />• At the July 6'~' meeting the commission needs to looks at prioritizing the trail sections for <br />City Council so they can be taken forward at the July 12°' meeting for approval. The <br />information will be sent out with next months agenda. <br />• The Parks and Recreation Commission is still hoping for a workshop with City Council <br />as reflected at last month's meeting. <br />NEIGHBOR- Sanders brought in three sets of preliminary plans for the Jackson Street Park Development. <br />HOOD MTG Each of the three plans was broken down into the different features, landscaping, recreational <br />activities, etc. that would be provided by that plan. The residents were asked for feedback on <br />each plan. Residents seemed to have positive things to say in regards to the development. <br />There was also an overall consensus with plan B.
