MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RF,CREATION COMMISSION <br />I,ITTLF, CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />NOVEMBER 2, 2000 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & 'Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 2°~ day of November, <br />2000 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in <br />said City. <br />Chair Matt Anderson called the meeting to order at 735 p.m. acrd the following members of <br />the Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />MEMBERS ABSENT <br />Mr. Matthew Anderson, Chair <br />Mr. James Broten <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Mr. Craig Larson <br />Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser <br />Mr. Robert Schabacker <br />Ms. Carla Danielson <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br />Mr. Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br />Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />MINUTES Sackett Glaser recommended that the minutes of t/ie OctoGer 5, 2000 meeting Ge approved <br />ns suG~nitted. <br />Motion seconded Gy Gray. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />POTENTIAL Anderson stated that during his recent campaigning, some residents living on Sylvan Street <br />PARK asked him about the possibility of placing a neighborhood park on a vacant lot in the area. <br />The Director stated that the lot the neighbors are referring to is actually three parcels running <br />adjacent to Sylvan Street. Two of the lots are owned by one person and the third is owned by <br />someone else. The lots are too small to be developed individually. They would need to be <br />combined with other land to be considered buildable. The lots are also heavily wooded. <br />Anderson stated that the residents he talked to wanted to see the trees cleared and the land <br />used as open space for neighborhood children. However, since there are private owners, a <br />park may not be feasible. The City Administrator stated that the City would have to <br />negotiate the purchase of the lots with the individual landowners. <br />Page I of 5 <br />
