original relief valves are worn out and need to be replaced. Estimated cost is
$700.
Ventilation System for MH's - As you know "Man Holes" (MH's) aze a considered a
confined space and can not be entered by anyone until they are properly vented.
This restricts any work we need to do in them. We are proposing to purchase a 12
Volt blower and duct system especially designed for ventilating MH's at an
estimate cost of $600.
Adjust Hydrant Heights - A lot of our fire hydrant are not within the standazd working
height. We aze proposing to purchase the necessary materials to adjust 16 fire
hydrants in 2001 for and estimated cost of $4,000.
Inflow/Inspections - As we aze wrapping up the sump pump inspection program and
repairing leaks into our sanitary sewer system there is still one more system that
needs to investigate in ensure that storm water does not enter our sanitary system.
We need investigate our commercial and industrial building to make sure their
rain gutters and storm water system are not connected to our sanitary system. The
estimated cost is $25,000 for this work.
Sewer Jet Nozzle -Based on our existing use, we are estimating that existing sewer
nozzles we got with the purchase of our Vactor will wear out and need replacing
in the year 2004 for an estimated cost of $5,000.
Radio -Booster Station to Tower -Currently the tower signals the Booster Station when
it needs more water via a dedicated telephone line that costs about $100. per
month. This system has proven not to be the most reliable as we have been
experiencing between 6 to 8 call outs per year due to line failure. This equates to
and annual cost of $1585. To eliminate this annual cost we are proposing to
install a radio transmitter in the tower that will send a signal to the booster station.
The estimated cost is $6,000 resulting in a pay off in about 4 years.
Replace Booster Station Pumps #1/#2 Motors -Pumps 1 and 2 have the original 100 Hp
electric motors with an efficiency rating of only 84%. Pump # 1 motor has been
rebuilt once and Pump #2 motor has been rebuilt twice. Both motors are showing
signs of wearing out. We are proposing to replace these motors with new high
efficient motors (95%) similar to our new Pump #3. The estimated cost is
$12,000. Besides the benefit of reducing electrical charges, we aze hopeful to get
an Xcel rebate totaling $2,000.
Water Meter Replacement Program -See attached report.
Computer hardware/software/Ramsey County GIS -Our existing paper maps of our
infrastructure are old and need to be updated. We use maps of our water, sanitary
sewer, storm sewer, street systems on a daily basis to do our work. We are
proposing to join the Ramsey County GIS Group and purchase up to dated
Page 12
