2001 Water/Sewer Capital Replacement Budget
Fund 604
Repairs to Sewer System -This is a continuation of the "I & I Reduction Program"
(reduce the amount of water entering out sanitary sewer system). We repaired
some our leaking and/or broken lines in 2000 and still need to repair more. The
estimated cost is $100,000.
Rehab Lift stations (B & Dianna) -The equipment package for the County Road B and
Dianna Lift Stations are schedule to be delivered in Apri12001. The estimated
cost to remove the old stations and install the new is estimated to cost $130,000.
Bubbler Control System for Lift Stations (Keller & Maple Leaf) - We will install a
bubbler control system in the Keller Lift Station before winter and are proposing
to install a bubbler system in the Maple Leaf station in 2001. By installing a
bubbler control system we eliminating the existing float system. These two
stations have a high amount of grease in them which greatly reduces the reliability
and effectiveness of the float control system. Estimated cost $4,000.
Install Fire Hydrant by Fire Hall -The fire department requests that we install a fire
hydrant adjacent to their north driveway to the fire station. They indicated it
would be used for training and reduce the need to run long lengths of hose the fire
hydrant located across from Racine Street to the north. Estimated cost is $4,000.
Replace Meter House Roof- The existing meter house located on the Water Works
property contains the main meter that St. Paul Water Department uses to bill us
for the water we get from them. This building has a flat roof that has aged, is
leaking and needs replacement. I am proposing to replace it with a regular
shingle type sloping roof reducing future cost for roof repair. The estimated cost
is $4,000.
Twin Lake Water Main - As part of the Twin Lake Road and Trail Street reconstruction
projects, we are proposing to install a water main. This area doses not have city
water and an extension our system would be very costly. We are proposing to
loop a section of Vadnais Heights through this area for an estimated city cost of
$192,684.
Storm Sewer Nozzle for Vactor -Our existing nozzles that we have do not efficiently
clean our storm sewer culverts and a lot of our existing storm sewer culverts have
never been cleaned. The nozzle we are proposing will save us a great amount of
labor time making us more efficient when we have to do this task. Estimated cost
is $3,000.
Valves for Booster Station -Relief valves are a very important part of our Booster
Station pump system to ensure that the system is not over pressurized.
