MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
APRIL 13, 2000
there is nothing the Commission can do that will significantly change the
traffic situation on County Road C. This road is a major artery, and he
suspected that traffic will only get worse on County Road C and not better.
Suchy reported that after 8:30 p.m. there is very little traffic on County
Road C. Suchy indicated that he feels the rezoning of his property from
B-3 to RB was good given that he would be able to reconstruct his house
if it were destroyed or damaged. Suchy asked about the effect on property
taxes. The City Planner indicated that property taxes are based on use of
the property, not the zoning.
Barraclough pointed out that under the RB zoning, twin homes would be
allowed to be constructed. Barraclough felt that the RB zoning for the
first three lots east of the coffee shop was a good transitional zoning for
the area and a good compromise.
Montour pointed out the letter received from the property owner at 54
Rosewood Drive in support of R-1 zoning for these properties.
Kraemer recommended approval of the rezoning of 73, 77, and 83 West
County Road C from B-3 to RB based on the fact that these properties are
located across the street from B-3 zoned property and abut R-1 property
on the north and the RB zoning provides a good buffer zone between the
two, and the Commission recommends retention of the R-1 zoning on
Outlot A as well as 43, 55, 61, and 67 West County Road C given that
these properties are located across the street from R-1 zoned properties.
Motion seconded by Montour.
Motion carried 7 - 0.
SIGN The City Planner recommended that the Commission call for a public
ORDINANCE hearing to consider some housekeeping amendments to the Sign
Ordinance. He noted that Zoning Districts have been added to the Zoning
Ordinance, and the appropriate references to the Sign Ordinance need to
be added. The Zoning Administrator also reported that an amendment is
needed to bring the section regulating political signs into compliance with
State Statutes.
Keis recommended that a public hearing be called to consider amendments
to the City's Sign Ordinance as recommended by the City Planner.
Motion seconded by Duray.
]4
