MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />SEPTEMBER 14, 2000 <br />looking configuration; <br />*The Commission would like to keep a flourishing business <br />in Little Canada. <br />Motion seconded by Kraemer. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />CUP - Mr. Ken Wills, Domino's Pizza, appeared before the Commission <br />2600 RICE requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit allowing a convenience <br />STREET - food establishment in the B-4 Zoning District. Wills reported that <br />DOMINO'S Domino's would like to relocate from their current location at 80 <br />PIZZA Minnesota Avenue to the Rice Street location given the improved <br />visibility for their business. <br />Carson asked about signage for the business. Wills replied that Domino's <br />would comply with all the City's signage requirements. <br />The Planner noted that any internal illumination of signage would have to <br />be limited to the letters and graphics on the sign. The background of the <br />sign could not be backlit. Wills indicated that they would comply. <br />Keis asked about hours of operation. Wills reported that Domino's would <br />maintain its existing hours which are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through <br />Thursday, and 11 a. m. through 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. <br />Keis indicated that Bob Petroff, owner of the Rice At C Center, has <br />expressed concern about the impact on Rice Street traffic having pizza <br />delivery vehicles in and out of the site. <br />Wills agreed that the majority of their business is pizza delivery. He also <br />noted that the store will have awalk-up area for people to stop in and <br />order and pickup their pizzas. <br />The City Planner pointed out that of all the streets in the City, Rice Street <br />is the most capable of handling high-volume commercial traffic. <br />Keis asked about curb cuts into the site. The Planner noted that two curb <br />cuts had been proposed. However, when he viewed the property recently <br />he noted that only one curb cut has been provided. <br />Willis indicated that he was not aware that there was only going to be one <br />curb cut and indicated that he would discuss this with the developer. It <br />was noted that a second curb cut at the north end of the property would put <br />
