Regular Meeting -January 5, 1354 <br />meeting place anti. advising the Council that the first Tuesday of <br />each month is highly acceptable since it does not in any way inter- <br />fere with the normal operations of the Wire Department. The letter <br />also stated that the Department vaoui_d. be .r.ead.y and wi111ng to moot <br />with the Council at an3r time to discuss the matter of f1.re pratec- <br />tion for the Village. This letter was acknowledged and. placed on <br />file. <br />The Mayor anno~znced that the next order of business was <br />the hearing of <br />PETI`PIO\tS, REC~UES<PS ~C REMONS'LRAN~CES <br />Mr. Paul P. Nachts:neim asked. for. the floor and was invited <br />to state his business. He advised the Council that the examination <br />of the township books anti affairs ?mltic.h is currently being made by <br />the Public Examiner of the State of Minnesota. may .reveal some ir- <br />regu:La.r.ities ?~..=hich would make possible the recovery of money by the <br />township. He stated tYxat he thought that i:f any money is recovered <br />by the totl~nship as a. result of tixis audit, that the Village should. <br />assert e, claim for its proportionate „hare of any such recovery. <br />Upon motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, it was <br />"RESOLVED, that the Council keep it- <br />self informed through proper channels so <br />as to be advised if a.ny money is properly <br />due the Village as a result of the audit <br />mentioned. by T?r. blachtsheirn.° <br />Ayes- 5 Atays -0 <br />The Clerk read a. petition from sevcra.1 residents of the <br />street presently lrnown as "South pvaasso Lane." In this >petition the <br />residents requested that tine Warne be chanted. to "South 0?aasso Boule- <br />vatid°. bor. S. Edward Ericson, Deputy Clerk, advised the Council <br />that such a. change might resu7_t in considerable confusion because <br />there is presently an East and '„'est South Owasso Boulevard ?nest of <br />Rice Street and. to add another one on the East side of Rice Street <br />certainly would not tend 'Co help ma.tter.s. Upon motion by Spooner, <br />seconded by Vitale, the petition vaas referred to the Clerk to check <br />with the County Engineer's office, the Clerk of Roseville and the <br />Clerk of.° b~ounde Vieva Townshi.Ft to asce.rta9.n whether or not a.ny con- <br />flict would result i.n Lhe name change as suggested and to report <br />back to the Council at its next meeting. The motion eras carried. <br />Mr. S. Pd.*,,rard Ericson discussed some matters of interest <br />to the V111age. He pointed out that in his capacity as Deputy Clerk <br />he will cooperate with the Coune7.7_ in vrorking out the division of <br />assets bet?~aeen the tovm anti. the Vl.'1..1age. <br />Mr. Marcel. Gagne, Chief of the Little Canada. Fire Depart- <br />ment, said that the Department would be ready at any time it suited <br />the convenience of th.e Council to negotiate concerning fire protec- <br />tion for the Village. He sulz~;ested that he thouF~ht such negotiations <br />ought to be commenced very soon. He also said that he would 19.ke to <br />have the Villa~,e Attorney investir~ate the matter of the State Firemen's <br />_ ;? <br />
