Regv.lar Meeting - Octor~~ 5, 1954
was also suggested that the officials could discuss the possiba,7.ity of an ordi-
nance controlling the setting of grass fires indiscriminately.
The Clerl. read a letter and petition from Fred Douglass, attorney for
the owners of hots 23 and 2!y of J. F. Eisenmenger's Garden Lots requesting the
Council to set a hearing date to consider re-zoning those lots from the present
Class A or Farm District to Business District. Upon the reading of this letter
and. the petition it was decided to hold a hearing at the Counci_1 meeting
scheduled for November 9th and that the attorney be so advised.
The Clerk read a letter and petition from Mr. E. L. Mallet to re-zone
two lots described as Lots ~ and 5 of North Park from Class A to Class B Resi-
dence so as to permit the construction of a bungalow duplex. This property is
located at the corner of Lake Shore Avenue and County Road C. It was agreed
by the Council that the request be received and that the public hearing be
scheduled for November 9th at B:C;G P.M.
Upon motion by Loeffler, seconded by Spooner, it was
°RESCLVID, That since the next meeting date in November
fa7.ls on election day, that the regu7.ar Council meeting be
set for ATOVember 9, 1.95u at 7:30 P.M. in the Fire Hall and
that the Clerk post notices to that effect."
Ayes - 5 Nays - 0
The resolution was adapted.
The Clerk ca7.led the attention o£ the Council to the request of the
or~mers of •the property adjacent to the regraded portion of Morrison Street north
of Park Street that the said portion of said Morrison Street be vacated. This,
too, requires posted and published notice and a hearing and it was decided that
the hearing be set for November 9th at 7:30 P.M.
Mr. Memmer called the attention of the Council to the fact that Rico
Street north of Highway #3G has not been widened to the extent that it has south
of #36. He suggested that in the not too distant future efforts would have to
be made to get the State Highway Department to widen this northern part of Rice
Street. In contemplation of this, Bir. Mermner thought that the Council of. Little
Catra,da ought to consider the matter of building setbacks for new construction
alox~ Rice Street within the village limits for the reason that by requiring
necessary setbacks now, it wi7.1 be much easier to widen Rice Street and if there
is not a great expense connected with the widening, such as the purchase and
moving of buildings, the Highway Department would obviously be more receptive
to the request for widening. Mr. Memmer also suggested that a letter be sent to
the Village of Roseville asking; them to consider this same approach to their
side of Rice Street. He ores informa7.ly instructed by the Mayor to go ahead aril
maY.e contact with Roseville outlin_i_ng his suggestions,
Upon motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, it was
"RESOLVED, That the regular election judges for November
2nd be the Mayor and Cormcil of the Village as provided by law
and for additional help, that the same persons who worked in
the primary be again hired, provided that if any of them could
- 2 -
