Regular Meeting - April 5, 1955 <br />Upon motion by Vitale, seconded by Spooner, it was <br />"RESOLVEll, That the Village purchase road grader <br />Model ~f30 from the Stockiand 12oad Machine Company <br />for the sum of Seven Hundred and 00/100 llollars <br />06700.00), and that the Cleric be and is hereby <br />authorized to make such purchase." <br />Ayes "- 5 Nays - 0 <br />The resolution was adopted. <br />Upon motion by Vitale, seconded by Nadeau, it was <br />"RESOI,VE;D, That the Village purchase black <br />top material as needed fram time to time during <br />the coming summer season from the Ray Sina Con- <br />tracting Company at New Brighton at Six and 50/100 <br />Dollars (566.50) per ton." <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 <br />The resolution was adopted. <br />Father Durand asked to be heard and stated his views on <br />the possibilities of liquor being sold in the Village of Little Can- <br />ada. He complimented the Village Council on the work it has done <br />in the past, and urged that whatever steps are taken with referenre <br />to the sale of liquor be done in such a way as to fairly and ade- <br />quately represent. the majority opinion of the people of the Village. <br />He indicated that his own personal opinion was that possibly the <br />Village could confine sales t;o 3,2 beer only< <br />The Clerk read a contract between the Village and the Lit- <br />tle Canada Fire Association :for fire protection for the current year. <br />This contract provides that the Village pay the Fire llepartment the <br />sum of Three Thousand and 00/100 lloilars ($63,000.00) for protection <br />:for the year 1955< The contract was turned over to the Fire Chief <br />{;o be properly executed and signed by the Fire llepartment and turned <br />over to the Council for approval at the next meeting. <br />The Clerk read a letter from the County Assessor"appoint_ <br />ing Mr. Phil Ducharme as Village Assessor for the year 1955.
