A. I-l. Durand of St. Johnts Church stated he favors a <br />mild type dog ordinance and also favors licensing for identification <br />purposes. He also thought that, dogs should be tied up during cer- <br />tain periods and that all dogs not licensed should be destroyed. <br />Mrs, Joe Wood, 3F31 Par1t Lane, favored .licensing of dogs <br />to help eliminate stray dogs. She believes that stray dogs are a <br />nuisance that ought to be overcome in some manner. <br />Mr. Floyd Patten, 22?_ little Canada Road, suggested that <br />dogs be tagged or identified in some way and that. the schools de- <br />termine whose dogs are, causing thc- trotbie at the schools. Certain <br />members of the. Council rriade comments. <br />After all discussion was cvc:r Dirayor Melancon asked the <br />people presertt to vote for• or against; a dog ordinance. Ten (1.0) <br />people were in favor of an ordinance; t.weive (12) people opposed an <br />ordinance. <br />Joltn Vitale, Trustee, and Roy Aradeau, Clerk, were desig- <br />na.t.ed to matte a survey of schools and school grounds to determine <br />the nts.mber of dogs running a.t large around the schools and to at-• <br />tempt 'Lo find out whether they were stra~r dogs or owned by people in <br />the Village. <br />Rev„ .A, lI. llurand asked tv be heard and he stated that he <br />is presently arranging for an air raid warning system to be installed <br />in the St. Johns School. He suggested that. possibly the Village <br />or the Fire Department could cooperate vrith the Churr•]-! so that this <br />cottld become a warning systcrn that would be heard ouCside of the <br />confines of the school itself.
