to try and correct the situation to the satisfaction of the Rosenthals on a
reasonable basis. It was pointed out that the County authorities had proposed
that Rosenthal. give them a recordable easement along the east side of his lot
and that the County would obtain a similar easement from the Winters who own
the property to the north so that the ditch could be run due north along
Rosenthal's lot, across Winters property and into Round Lake. `1'he matter was
tabled. until next meeting to permit time for the County to make these arrangements.
Mx•. Larry Nelson, attorney representing Mr. and 11~Irs. Eugene Auge
of 65 West County Road B-2, called the Council+s attention to the fact that the
present conditnn of Park Avenue vrhere it intersects County Road N-2 between the
property owned by Auge and the property owned by Korp was causing water to run
onto Auge's property where it formed a pond. `1'he attorney and his clients were
advised by the Village Engineer that the road work has not been completed but
that, upon completion, this intersection vrill be so constructed that water
running southward on Park will, flow directly onto County Road 13-2 and then
eastward and that the only water on Auge's property will be rainfall that falls
directly on Auge's farm. The matter was tabled until next meeting.
Mr. Arthur Sundberg, representing the ]3lomquist Company, together with
Mr. Wo].fgram, a surveyor, appeared before the Council vrith a proposed plat of
property owned by Blomquist in the area north of Little Canada Road lying
between Edgerton Street and Keller Parkway.
Upori motion by Spooner, seconded by Vitale, it was,
RESOLVED, That the plat which was presented as a proposed registered
land survey be, and the same is, hereby approved.
Ayes - 5 Nays - 0
Mr. Don Sether of 2184 Arkwright presented to the Council a Petition
with the names of 40 or more residents who are requesting that the Village
detach the area bounded by Highway 36, Edgerton, County Road 13 and McMenea~y
from Little Canada so that it can be annexed to Maplewood. These people explained
that they were in no way dissatisfied with the Village of Little Canada or its
government but that they wanted sewers and that they also £elt that police and
fire protection would be mox•e adequate and more readily available from Maplewood
because their area i.s quite effectively cut off from the rest of Little Canada
by highway 36. They said they felt that they could obtain these services more
cheaply by being part of Maplewood then by remaining part of Litt:Le Canada.
`1'he Village Attornoy also was called upon to explain the procedure far such
detachment and annexation. It was pointed out that the actual detachment and
annexation had to be established by concurrent resolutions to be adopted by both
municipalities and also that such resolutions would have to be approved in writing
by the owners of 75J o£ the property in the area described. It was explained that
this did not mean 75~ of the owners of property but rather the owners of 75/ of
the property. IVir. Sether, and other persons who were appearing with him,
indicated that they would take further action in compliance with. legal require-
ments and in accordance with. the explanation of the Village Attorney.
Mr. Raymond Savaugeau of 47 Viking Drive presented himself to the Council
and explained that he is the owner of a lot 132 x ?_96 feet north of Highway 36
and east of Rice Street on the extended line of Minnesota Street and that he i.s
_2-
