REGULAR MEETING OF LITTLE CANADA VILLAGE COUNCIL - OCTOBER 12. 1960 <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Melancon at 7:30 P. M. Present <br />were: Mayor Melancon, W. Coenen, J. Vitale, Ed Loeffler and Carl Spooner. <br />Also present were: Fred Memmer, Louis Jesperson and Richard Hoss. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of September 14, 1960 were read and <br />approved. <br />The Clerk read a Petition which had been presented to him by Roy Guerin <br />who is asking the Council to grant a permit for a filling station at Rice Street <br />and Little Canada Road. The petition had twelve signers. The Clerk then read a <br />Petition which had been presented to the Mayor containing fifty-six signatures <br />which were opposed to the filling station on Riee Street. At this point, Mr. Guerin <br />pointed out that the size of lot he wishes to sell or lease to Standard Oil Company <br />is 132 x 115, not 108 x 108, which were the figures he had given the Council at the <br />previous meeting. The Clerk then read a written report to the Council concerning <br />traffic problems and property use policy for Rice Street. After considerable <br />discussion, the matter was laid over. <br />Upon motinn by Vitale, seconded by Loeffler, it was <br />RESOLVED, that Guerin~s request to authorize a filling station on Rice and <br />Little Canada Road be heard at a special meeting to be held Wednesday, October 26, <br />at x:30 P, M. <br />Upon motion by Vitale, seconded by Loeffler, it was <br />RESOLVED, that the Council take under advisement the matter of establishing <br />a Planning Commission and that this matter be discussed again at the next meeting. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 <br />The Village Engineer presented the assessment roll for the construction work <br />on County Road B-2 (Flower Street east from Rice Street for a distance of 1,200 feet. <br />The assessment roll having been presented by the engineer, the Village Attorney then <br />went into detail as to how this assessment was arrived at so that everyone present <br />would be aware of the various items that made up the cost and the manner in which <br />it was divided. Mr. Larry Nelson, attorney for Mr. and Mrs. Auge, stated that his <br />clients had no objection to the assessment or to the construction work but pointed <br />out that several matters should be corrected before the job is deemed to be finished. <br />Mr, and Mrs. Karp stated that they felt that some work should be done where their <br />driveway intersects the street. <br />Upon motion by Vitale, seconded by Spooner, it was <br />RESOLVED, that the assessment roll as presented by the Village Attorney and <br />the Village Engineer be, and the same is hereby, fully approved as presented; and, <br />-1- <br />
