of Edgerton Street, on the south by the center line of County Road B and on the west by the center line of McMenemy Street extended to the south right-of-way line of Highway 36~ and the Council does hereby approve the annexation of said area to the Village of Maplewood as petitioned by the petitioners herein; and, £urther, that the Clerk is instructed to prepare certified copies of this Resolution and forward one° copy thereof to the Village of Maplewood for the purpose of obtaining concurrent action of the Council of said Village of Maplewood and that, after such concurrent action has been taken by the said Council of the Village o£ Maplewood, that the Clerk o£ Little Canada forward certified copies of this Resolution, together with the fact of Maplewood's concurrence, to the State Commission on Municipal Consolidation and Annexation for approval lby that Commission as required by the said Chapter 686, Laws of 1959• Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Upon motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, it was RESOLVED, that the amount o£ money to be raised in the Village o£ Little Canada by means of general taxes upon all taxable property in the said Village to be collected as 1959 taxes is hereby set at $10,000.00 total, said sum being composed of the general fund in the amount of $9,561.91, civilian defense fund $250.00 and Public Employees Retirement Fund $188.09; and the Clark is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution forthwith to the County Auditor of Ramsey County. Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 The Clerk then read a letter from the League of Municipalities announcing a regional meeting to be held in Maplewood on Thursday, October 13th. The Clerk read a letter from Independent School District No. 623 relating to the traffic problem on Rice Street and County Road B-2 during those periods in the morning and afternoon of each day when the school busses are bringing children to and from Capitol View Junior Righ. It was pointed out to the Council that the School Superintendent had written a letter and then later Followed it up with a rather caustic newspaper story complaining that Roseville and Little Canada had refused to do anything about the traffic problem. The Clerk then went on to explain that the sheriff's office, having been advised of the matter, set up one man to direct traffic for about an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon at the corner of Rice and B-2. The Clerk then read a letter received from the North Star Bus Company requesting permission of the Village of Little Canada to operate a bus line northward on Rice Street from Little Canada Road to North Owasso Boulevard. Upon motion by Vitale, seconded by Loeffler, it was RESOLVED, that permission be, and is hereby, granted to the North Star Bus -4-
