of Edgerton Street, on the south by the <br />center line of County Road B and on the <br />west by the center line of McMenemy Street <br />extended to the south right-of-way line of <br />Highway 36~ <br />and the Council does hereby approve the annexation of said area to the Village of <br />Maplewood as petitioned by the petitioners herein; and, £urther, that the Clerk <br />is instructed to prepare certified copies of this Resolution and forward one° copy <br />thereof to the Village of Maplewood for the purpose of obtaining concurrent action <br />of the Council of said Village of Maplewood and that, after such concurrent action <br />has been taken by the said Council of the Village o£ Maplewood, that the Clerk <br />o£ Little Canada forward certified copies of this Resolution, together with the <br />fact of Maplewood's concurrence, to the State Commission on Municipal Consolidation <br />and Annexation for approval lby that Commission as required by the said Chapter 686, <br />Laws of 1959• <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 <br />Upon motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, it was <br />RESOLVED, that the amount o£ money to be raised in the Village o£ Little <br />Canada by means of general taxes upon all taxable property in the said Village <br />to be collected as 1959 taxes is hereby set at $10,000.00 total, said sum being <br />composed of the general fund in the amount of $9,561.91, civilian defense fund <br />$250.00 and Public Employees Retirement Fund $188.09; and the Clark is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution forthwith <br />to the County Auditor of Ramsey County. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 <br />The Clerk then read a letter from the League of Municipalities announcing <br />a regional meeting to be held in Maplewood on Thursday, October 13th. <br />The Clerk read a letter from Independent School District No. 623 relating <br />to the traffic problem on Rice Street and County Road B-2 during those periods in <br />the morning and afternoon of each day when the school busses are bringing children <br />to and from Capitol View Junior Righ. It was pointed out to the Council that the <br />School Superintendent had written a letter and then later Followed it up with a <br />rather caustic newspaper story complaining that Roseville and Little Canada had <br />refused to do anything about the traffic problem. The Clerk then went on to explain <br />that the sheriff's office, having been advised of the matter, set up one man to <br />direct traffic for about an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon at the <br />corner of Rice and B-2. <br />The Clerk then read a letter received from the North Star Bus Company <br />requesting permission of the Village of Little Canada to operate a bus line northward <br />on Rice Street from Little Canada Road to North Owasso Boulevard. <br />Upon motion by Vitale, seconded by Loeffler, it was <br />RESOLVED, that permission be, and is hereby, granted to the North Star Bus <br />-4- <br />
