Min, Reg, Meeting <br />Dec 18 1972 <br />Cont. <br />RECREATION <br />Dir, Rudy Dfr, Rudy mentioned the Village should <br /> consider some action to make the St. Paul idater Dept. to <br />Water release the 14 acres of surplus land. The land presently is <br />Works zone industrial, oEf the tax roll because it is owned by the <br />Property city and i£ no action is taken it is very possible other agencies <br /> cai11 acquire the land and it will remain of the tax roll. He <br /> further remarked that it is impossible for private industry to <br /> purchase the land because government agencies may have the <br /> first option to purchase the property. We know Ramsey County <br /> Open Space Agency is interested in the land. As we have seen <br /> in the past, the County traded land crith the St, Paul Water <br /> Dept, without considering the Village, <br />Mr, De Bace remarked that he would like <br />the water Dept to sell the property to private industry but <br />he does not like the idea of the village purchasing the land <br />and developing ft, It was Dir. De Bace opinion, that the Village <br />should stay out of the developing business and the Village <br />may have to purchase industrial bonds and in the end the taxpayer <br />will cvind up paying for it. Mr De Bace also mentioned that <br />eve should require the St. Paul Watex Dept to pay its share of <br />police and fire protection. <br />It was the opinion of the attorney that the <br />village may purchase the land and resell it to private industry, <br />He futhex remark that the City of St, Paul does purchase Land and <br />sell the land back to private developers. <br />Upon the motion of Mr, Rudy and seconded by <br />Mx. Chlebeck, it was resolved that, <br />The attorney is hereby instructed <br />to inquire into the proceeduxes <br />of acquiring the St, Paul Water <br />Works surplus land in the Village <br />of Little Canada, <br />Ayes: Messrs: Rudy, Chlebeck, De Baca and <br />Anderson <br />Naves 0 Resolution adopted. <br />ATTORNEY: It was the opinion of the attorney that the <br />Clerk's appointment of the clerk, since plan " A " has been adopted, <br />appointment. should be made by the new Council in Jan, He advised at a meeting <br />should be held on the fist business day in Jan, to make the <br />appointment. <br />Meeting is hereby set for Tuesday Jan 2, 1972 <br />8t 00 A, Df. <br />G40 Little Canada Rd. <br />to make the appointment of the clerk. <br />page 7 <br />
