MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />August 7, 2008 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission <br />of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 7th day of August, 2008, in the council <br />chambers of the city center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Chair Pam Davis called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the <br />commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Pam Davis, Chair <br />Ms. Ruth Steinwall <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Ms. Clar•aNeis <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Ms. Dotty Norgard, Recording Secretary <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Park & Recreation Director <br />MINUTES Neis made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Steinwall. Motion carried 5-0 <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />NORTH/ Sanders reported that he has submitted paperwork for the grant that is available for this <br />SOUTH TRAIL trail. He will follow-up with Greg Mack fi•om Ramsey County. National Park Systems are <br />CONNECTION offering staff assistance, not financial assistance. They will assist with coordinating meetings <br />Sanders will focus on some grant monies later. We should know if the grant is approved by <br />mid-fall. <br />Morelan stated he is working on pinpointing the St. Jude personnel to request the trail <br />easement. <br />Sanders is working on identifying the costs and various forms of funding of the pedestrian <br />bridge over Highway 36. I-Ie will find out how much Minn-Dot funding is available. <br />ICE CREAM Morelan reported they served 400 units of ice cream and 24 gallons of root beer. Unfortunately; <br />SOCIAL the K-9 unit was a no show. Steinert commented that the K-9 unit is always an issue for the Ice <br />Cream Social. There is always a communication problem with arranging to have them attend <br />this function. Two messages were left with them and they never contacted us that they were not <br />planning to attend. Steinert recommended that we look for something else in the future. <br />Norgard stated that Canadian Days used the Underwater World this year for the Kiddie Parade <br />entertainment and Sanders suggested the Raptors for consideration for future years. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
