MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST I5, 2008
The City Planner pointed out the vacant residential property in the northeast
quadrant of the City (Scully, Himmelbach, etc.). He noted that the land use
plan calls for low density residential development. The Planner also noted
that this are is impacted by existing wetlands. It was the consensus of the
Commission to retain the low density residential designation.
The next area is a small residential tract (4 to 5 acres) in the area of LaSore
Road and Arcade Street. The Planner noted that this parcel has limited
access. Its current designation is low density residential It was the
consensus of the Commission to retain that designation.
The final area reviewed is asingle-family residential area located southeast
of 35E and Highway 36. It was the consensus of the Commission to retain
the land use as single-family residential.
The City Planner indicated that he would present the Commission's
comments to the City Council at their next meeting.
The Planner reviewed the process to finalize the Comp Plan Update, noting
that it must be submitted to the Met Council by year end (unless an
extension is requested). Neighboring communities will also be given a
review and comment period, and the Planner hoped to submit the draft
update to neighboring communities in October. The City Planner noted that
there are not a lot of significant changes to Little Canada's Comp Plan
given the City is fully developed. He anticipated having a complete draft of
the plan by mid-September, and holding a joint workshop with the Council
and Planning Commission in October. After that point a public hearing
could be held to obtain public input to the plan.
ADJOURN Duray recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Socha.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:17 p.m.
submitted,
City Clerk
-8-
