MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTF,MBER 11, 2008
Pechmann clarified that there would be no screens, windows, or walls to the
porch. Pechmann pointed out the possibility of people wanting to screen in
these porches in the future.
The City Planner indicated that he has seen other cities allow people to get
creative and upgrade the appearance of existing homes with architectural
improvements to their properties. He noted that many older style homes
have flat fionts, and the addition of a front porch adds a nice architectural
feature.
Barraclough noted that a front porch brings people outside at the front of
their property and creates a better neighborhood environment.
Knudsen felt that allowing an encroachment of this nature also runs the risk
of people taking it to the max. While it sounds good on the surface,
Knudsen felt that the language would have to be strong enough to control it.
Pechmann agreed that the front porch concept could bring a neighborhood
together.
The Planner indicated that he would bring these comments to the property
owner.
ADJOURN Barraclough recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Seconded by Hall.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:16 p.m.
submitted,
Recording
-10-
