•Message Center – New Message Center at the Pioneer Park Pavilion. This will replace the one <br />that is affixed to the building and be used as a tool to better communicate to park users of <br />events that are going on at the park and throughout the City. The anticipated price for the <br />message center and installation is $1,800. <br />•Interpretive Signage – Add interpretive signage and wayfinding signage at each park throughout <br />the park system. The signs will highlight the area that park users are in and give an overall view <br />of the park system. This will give exposure to underutilized parks. It will also allow people new <br />to the area to be made aware of other park offerings within the City. The anticipated price for <br />design, materials, and installation is $20,000. <br />•Consultant – $35,000 is included for a consultant for the Pioneer Park Master Planning process <br />and the Gervais Mill Entrance project. <br />General park maintenance projects scheduled for 2020 include: <br />•Trail repair and maintenance in various parks <br />•New woodchips at the Rondeau, Thunder Bay, and Nadeau Park playgrounds <br />•Continued work on buckthorn removal and general tree trimming primarily at Spooner Park but <br />at other parks as needed <br />•Ballfield maintenance at Pioneer and Spooner <br />•Continued work on habitat restoration at Thunder Bay/Westwind Park following the Xcel clear <br />cutting from 2018 <br />Looking past 2020, some highlights of upcoming projects are: <br />•Boardwalk in Gervais Mill Park <br />•Boardwalk/Pier at Nadeau Wildlife Park <br />•Upgrade Band Shell at Spooner Park <br />•Pioneer Park Playground equipment (transfer from Park Land Acquisition Fund 456) <br />•Picnic shelter at Rondeau Park <br />•Fitness Equipment in the Thunder Bay/Westwind Park (contingent on grant funding) <br />•New Skate Park equipment (potentially funded by the LCRA) <br />Public Works Equipment (Pages 23-24) <br />Due to the large replacement cost for public works equipment, all major equipment has been included <br />in the schedule. If a piece of equipment will not be replaced in the next five years, the anticipated <br />replacement cost is identified in the future column. <br />Highlights of the 2020 Public Works Department equipment purchases are as follows: <br />Large Dump Truck <br />There were three pickup trucks and a large dump truck budgeted for replacement in 2021 and only <br />some minor equipment programmed for 2020. In order to spread the trucks out over more time, the <br />decision was made to move the large dump truck ($190,000) up to 2020. The new truck will replace the <br />2006 Sterling single axle dump truck currently in the fleet. This truck will be used for plowing and de- <br />icing in the winter and hauling asphalt, dirt, brush, and other materials in the summer months. <br />Staff is looking at purchasing an International chassis similar to the other large dump truck that was <br />5
